Community impacting creativity

How Does Community Impact Creativity?

Creativity is at the center of so much of what we experience and appreciate. But where does that spark come from, and how can we keep it alive? Community is one of the most powerful, and sometimes overlooked, drivers of creativity.

Throughout August, our team at Premier has been exploring what community means to creativity and reminding ourselves that some of the best ideas can come from stepping outside our usual routines. Meeting new people, exploring a different part of town, or showing up somewhere unexpected can shift how we see things. And that sense of curiosity can be exactly what sparks a new idea.

This month, we got out into the community and found inspiration in a few different places.

Drip Coffee Party

📍 New Lab, Detroit

At Drip Coffee Party, we connected with other creatives, supported local vendors, explored an inspiring creative space, and of course, enjoyed some good coffee. It was a reminder that creativity thrives when people come together and share ideas, experiences, and perspectives.

Brook Does Pontiac Roadkill Nights Pre-Party

📍 Pontiac Creative Arts Center

We also stopped by Brook Does Pontiac’s Roadkill Nights Pre-Party to support Brook Banham, founder of Middlecott Sketchbattle, as he showcased his artwork at the Pontiac Creative Arts Center. Seeing the work of other creatives is always a good reminder that there’s more than one way to approach an idea.

Royal Oak Live!

📍 Centennial Commons

We attended the Royal Oak Chamber’s Royal Oak Live! Summer Concert Series for live music, local food, and time spent with the community we’re proud to call home. Sometimes inspiration doesn’t come from a big creative breakthrough. It comes from simply being present and paying attention to what’s happening around you.

The best ideas often emerge when people connect, collaborate, and learn from one another. Staying engaged with others, whether it’s in your industry, your neighborhood, or your creative circle, opens the door to new possibilities and new ways of thinking.

And that mindset carries directly into our work.

Over the years, Premier has learned how to truly understand what makes each industry different, from their challenges and audience to unique way of communicating. This perspective keeps our work fresh and often leads to unexpected connections. A lesson from one field can shape an idea for another, and there’s always something new to learn.

Community does more than inspire creativity; it strengthens it. Every conversation, partnership, and shared experience adds another layer to how people think, create, and communicate.
